I figure since the school year’s over I might post some of my process work. For my school stuff I tend to do WAY more preliminary sketches. Mostly because if I’m workshopping a piece, I want people to have something to look at & critique. It’s hard for someone to give me feedback on my work & help steer me in the right direction if it’s all in my head!
These are outfit sketches for THIS comic. Obviously, the designs were greatly simplified due to the nature of the medium I was working in (scratchboard). I coloured these on a whim.
Sketch from my sketchbook. I don’t know if I’ll ever get tired of drawing dark-eyed girls with pointy teeth.
I’ve definitely posted this before. I was reminded of it today while trying to open a jar of sauce to make lunch. I have weakest wrists ever.
We went to the Vancouver aquarium yesterday. Here are my sketches from that.
Sketches from earlier in the week. Characters from Robin Hood: Men In Tights. This is my favourite part of the movie. I watch this clip over & over & over again.
From my sketchbook. The weather’s been so nice lately. Out front of my apartment all the daffodils are in bloom. On my walk to school I see plot after plot of crocuses. It makes me smile.
Words by Tom Lehrer. From this song. A spring staple in my family.
“all the world seems in tune on a spring afternoon when we’re poisoning pigeons in the park”
From my sketchbook. Just some friends hanging out.
I’ve been writing comics about these girls for years. Last year I wrote & drew 40 pages of their story…. & scrapped them because it was so stagnant. I mean, I still have them, but no one other than me will ever see them. This is only relevant because I’m trying my hand at fiction again. It’s a challenge for me. We’ll see how it goes.
